PA Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics Honors Dr. Clark McSparren of Lancaster, PA with 2021 Pediatrician of the Year Award

Media, PA – Every year the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (PA AAP) presents a pediatrician member with its highest honor, the Pediatrician of the Year award. On Saturday, March 20 at PA AAP’s virtual Pediatric Conference, Annette Myarick, Executive Director of PA AAP, announced this year’s recipient as Clark McSparren, Jr, MD, FAAP of Lancaster, PA. Several weeks later on Friday, April 16, Myarick presented Dr. McSparren with the award in a well-attended, in-person ceremony.

With resounding support from their shared colleagues and peers and the School District of Lancaster, Dr. Pia Fenimore, MD, FAAP nominated Dr. McSparren for this distinction. The PA AAP Governance Committee and Board of Directors consider a range of criteria in selecting a recipient, focusing namely on applicants’ record of community leadership.

Dr. McSparren was selected for his tenure not only as a practitioner but a volunteer, educator, and mentor. Though titles such as “Chief of Pediatrics,” “Founding Physician,” and “Medical Director” populate his resume, Dr. McSparren’s impact extends past his promotions into his community, its schools, and vulnerable citizens.

During the April 16th ceremony, Myarick said of Dr. McSparren, “While there are innumerable accolades that capture Dr. McSparren’s success as a clinical provider, such as his founding Lancaster Pediatric Associates, what makes Dr. McSparren an invaluable leader is his understanding and embodiment of the spirit within his community.”

PA AAP thanks Dr. McSparren for his dedication to the health and wellbeing of Pennsylvania’s children.
